November Extra Post

After working hard for almost 5 months I finally see progress. Supplementation, Training, Nutrition are three of the most important things that I had to take seriously. It obviously pays off In the long run. I will strive for more and more progress until I meet my goal. My goal is to weigh 150lbs with 9% body fat percentage.

Answers To My EQ

Training
This just shows how training should be taken seriously by going to your last rep and reaching failure.
Here is Jorge and he has a bag filled with 45 lbs of weight on his back. He is doing push-ups. (10-12 reps and 3 sets) This is a killer advanced workout for the tricep and chest ( Pectoralis Major) muscles.
Supplementation
Here are supplements I use and recommend for people to use. These products give me the progress I want. Pre-workout and post workout supplements.
Nutrition
Chicken Breast are my main source of protein. Its easy to cook and it gives me what I want. Its in the top foods for body builders. I usually prepare the chicken one day before Im going to consume it. I try to eat 6-7 times a day with 30 grams of protein in each meal. This will give me the results I want.

Research and Working EQ

  1. What is your working EQ?
What factors are most important to consider when becoming a fit body builder ?
     2.  What is a possible answer to your working EQ? Please write the answer in thesis format.
Taking training, nutrition, and supplementation seriously will get you on that path of becoming a fit body builder.

    3.   What is the most important source you have used that has helped you come up with an answer to your working EQ?
In my opinion, the best source for me was "Bodybuilding Revealed" by Will Brink which was a book. This book had mainly three main topics for the book. Training, which consisted of using good form and what errors not to make when training. Nutrition, which shows me what is good to eat and what are the best body building foods. And lastly Supplementation, which dealt with what supplements are good to use and how they work.

    4.  Who is your mentor, or where are you volunteering, and how does what you are doing relate to your working EQ?
I am currently mentoring with my Cousin who is a personal trainer and body builder. He goes to the gym everyday which just shows how dedicated he is. Reason he relates to my working EQ is because he shows my the key values in becoming a fit body builder. Training hard is something that is controlled mentally. Nutrition wise he shows me what he prepares for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He eats 6 times a day. Supplement wise he shows me what he uses and usually tells me which ones are good or bad. My mentor shows me everything I need to know in order to become a body builder.

Independent Component 1 Approval

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
I plan to keep doing my mentorship hours with my mentor. Im going to be working out with my mentor a lot more and I will learn a lot more. Hopefully I can get a new mentor soon so I can see how differently personal trainers workout as well.

2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
I will not only show it physically but I will also show by having pictures and videos with my mentor. Maybe sometimes at the gym and sometimes when were eating after the gym. A visual representation is always good  evidence wise.

3.  Explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
Its not only just about going to the gym and working out but its about learning how to become a fit body builder. I will learn as much as I can so that later I will become an expert in body building. Then I will probably be able to become a personal trainer after I feel like I have met my goal.

This Exercise is called "Dips" and it mainly works on the tricep muscles and some of the chest.

This Exercise is mainly working on the bicep muscles and its basically doing pull-ups but using a different grip which allows only your biceps to be used in the workout. ( In here i am working out with my mentor and he taught me this type of pull up and also lots of other pull ups )

Blog 5 Project Reflection and Working EQ

1) Positive Statement: What positive thing happened as a result of what you have completed so far?

After working out for some time already I have seen some improvement in muscle mass. I believe I encouraged many people to start working out. I'm not bragging here or anything but Ive talked to a lot of people so far and they all want to start working out. So far I have introduced many workouts for friends and I actually have brought one of my friends to the gym recently. (Daniel Song) #24hourfitness #club

 (2) EQ Content:  Pick a piece of research or your interview.  How has it helped you improve your understanding of your topic?

I have been reading a book called "BodyBuilding Revealed" by Will Brink and I have learned lots of stuff. I learned about the best meals to eat after a workout ( which are high in protein ). The different types of workouts and what muscle does it workout. Things to avoid when working out like holding your breathe while lifting heavy weights. I also learned That when lifting heavy weight, good form is key to success in muscle mass increase. But when you have bad form, then this is where injury can occur and ruin your lifting progress.

(3) What has worked for you so far in the senior project?

Doing so much research and reading books on my topic has helped me gain knowledge on not just the physical aspect but the science part of bodybuilding. I probably know more things about bodybuilding then most people in the gym now. But Im not going to be cocky about it, like if I see someone doing something wrong I will try my best in helping them. Or if someone needs help like being spotted when lifting heavy weight, i will then volunteer. I hope to be a personal trainer one day so i can give back and help others in need.

(4) What hasn't worked so far?

To be honest, the only thing that im not doing in my part to increase my chances in muscle mass growth is food problems. I either dont eat healthy enough food or I sometimes dont eat in the morning after the gym and wait till i get home until 2 pm. But i drink my protein shake every time after the gym. So if i had enough money i would buy enough healthy food and have food to take to school during passing period.

(5) Finding Value:
  •  What is a potential question you would like to study this year?  (working EQ)
What factors are most important to consider when becoming a fit bodybuilder?
  •  What do you plan to do for mentorship?  If you haven't found a mentor yet, then discuss where you are currently looking and who you are talking to to find it.
I plan to do my mentorship with my cousin and his friend who are both personal trainers. But my cousins friend (Eric Bugarin) owns a gym called Spartan Fitness near la puente. They both have come a long way so i look up to them both and plan to be committed to bodybuilding. So my goal is to not only gain muscle but also help others who want to see results. I want to help others find there goals and achieve them. To me there is nothing better to do but work out every time. Its an addiction that I wont ever give up. #projectbulk #itsabodybuilder #thing @spartanfitness_OTD follow on instagram

Blog 4: Interview Preparation

  1. I plan to Interview a close friend who is a body builder himself and is becoming a personal trainer as well. Reason why I chose him was because he has lots of knowledge on like the science part of body building and how everything works. I know for-sure he will have lots of info. on this topic.
  2. Is creatine and all these other supplements good for the body? why? what if your a teenager?
Other than eating lots of food, what are other ways I can bulk up and gain in muscle mass and strength?
How are muscle fibers torn ?

Blog 3: Topic Choice and Semester 1 ESLR Goals

1.  List your topic here: Body Building
2.  What do you plan to do this year to show growth in each of the ESLRs?  Be specific and use an example.  Examples can come from senior project, model assembly, core, and/or participation in senior class ASB or other organizations on campus (clubs etc.).

I Poly Citizen: I will do my best to be responsible and helpful to others when needed. An example, if a junior or sophomore asks for advice I will do my best to help. I will also respect my peers by understanding them and listening to them if something is wrong.

Effective Learner: when doing my senior project I will be responsible enough to start and finish this with the best research possible. I will do my part and learn everything possible about my project topic. So that when I present I will become an expert in bodybuilding.

Effective User of Technology: I will most definitely use the internet to my advantage but also learn from it. Also use the technology for good reasons and not just to waste my time. Especially for senior project I will have to research a lot.

Effective Communicator: Lastly I will do my best in being available for others in times of need. Communicated with others shouldn't be a problem and I will probably need advice from others when doing senior project. Then that advice that I get will be used for helping others as well when needed.

Blog Assignment #2 : Summer Mentorship [Body Building]

Literal :
  1. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnYNNuUVk40ddF8wUHBQSzVIOUFFZ3hfT2FYaFduYWc#gid=0
  2. Contact Name : (Personal Trainer) Robert Maldonado (626) 261-3367
  3. What I Want To Know
  • I want to know how much do I need to eat each day in order to gain muscle but still maintain that healthy state?
  • What are great ways to gaining muscle on forearms ?
Interpretive :

4. The most important thing I gained from working out with my cousin (Personal Trainer) is that getting good rest after a workout and eating the right foods after a workout increases your chances of gaining muscle faster because he told me that muscles grow when your resting not during your workout. So eating the rite foods such as chicken breast and lots of other foods with protein are what make muscles heal and grow.
     5. Most of my family are into bodybuilding, which means they are all strong and buff. I wanted to make a change in my lifestyle after seeing all of them doing something with theirs. So I started by getting a free 7 day pass at 24 hour fitness and I loved it. So now I have a 2 year pass and go everyday to the gym. Since Im still learning about the different muscles that are being used when working out and the different dieting plans I felt like this can be a great project for me. I would be able to research about the muscles and how to really grow the rite way with research. Its a win-win for me I get my workouts in and Im also doing my project on something I do everyday.

2.) Only question I have towards these presentations were how many activities are needed for a presentation.

3.) The most important part of a senior project consisted of the activities and the answers to the EQ. These were the two most important things that are needed for a senior project.

4.) My senior project is going to be either about Body Building or Mechanical Engineer specifically working with a broadcasting station. I am still debating which one I should do. If I do not get the internship with the broadcasting station I will then change to Body Building.
